Abigail & Jacob Wedding Aurora IL
About the Couple
I have known Abigail since undergraduate school — in fact, we’ve attended the same church for many years, too! When I learned that her brother, Andrew, encouraged her to try out the new Facebook dating app, I was so hopeful and excited that she might find “the one.”
And Abigail found “the one” in Jacob! Jacob is a pastor’s son, and after spending a few years working for his uncle’s business, Jacob now makes a career in law enforcement.
Here are some highlights of Jacob and Abigail’s love story:
- 1.10.2020 – She liked him
- 1.11.2020 – He liked her back
- 1.17.2020 – First date
- 1.25.2020 – Official relationship
- 2.08.2020 – First kiss
- 2.21.2020 – He said “I love you”
- 2.22.2020 – She said it back
- 5.17.2020 – They got engaged
- 8.01.2020 – They got HITCHED!
Abigail’s party consisted of her two sisters, Hannah and Rebekah, and two of her closest friends, Jasmine and Meredith. (And it just so happened that the photographer is married to one of the bridesmaids — Jasmine!) We began our photo time together with some ladies’ portraits at Aurora’s McCullough Park.
Abigail chose a wine and jewel-toned color pallette for her ladies’ dresses and florals, and these tones were a perfect pop of color on our overcast Saturday afternoon as we ducked rain showers between portraits. The girls shared a time of smiles and laughter as we adventured around the park to create group and individual shots. Abigal gave her bridesmaids some customized “I do crew” masks, and we used those to create some “socially distanced” bridal party photos before the ladies headed back to the church to prepare for the wedding Aurora IL.
For flowers, Abigail did something a little non-traditional, and it turned out so neat! Instead of having her bridesmaids carry bouquets, she crafted beautiful metal lanterns topped with jewel-tone flowers and filled with strings of twinkle lights.
Jacob was accompanied by his four best friends along with Abigail’s brother. The guys embraced the summer wedding theme, trading suit coats for a vest for Jacob and coordinating suspenders for the groomsmen. Didn’t they look dapper?
The Wedding Aurora IL
Jacob and Abigail were married in a private ceremony at his home church, officiated by his father. Their ceremony included prayers of blessing, a unity braid, and a special song performed by Abigail’s sisters.
After the ceremony, when I was getting ready to take detail photos, Abbi told me about how she and Jacob chose their wedding rings. Her father and grandfather both wore yellow gold rings, and now yellow gold symbolizes loyalty and timelessness for her. I love how she and Jacob paired modern aesthetics with the classic look of yellow gold!
Congratulations, Abigail and Jacob!
