Katie & Jordan Engagement Session Wrigley Building Chicago IL
About the Couple
When Katie and Jordan first reached out to me via the Knot, I was surprised to learn that they lived in Iowa. But as we began to message back and forth, Katie shared with me how she and Jordan loved vacationing in Chicago. In fact, they loved it so much, that the Windy City has become their favorite city, and they frequently make weekend trips to Chicago to relax, see the sights, and enjoy Chicago’s diverse cuisine.
As fate would have it, Katie and Jordan were able to visit me in Chicago shortly after Valentine’s Day 2018. We gathered at Starbucks on Michigan Ave. and spent a wonderful hour getting to know each other over coffee and chai tea. Jordan shared that Katie works in a jewelry boutique back home, so she really put him through his paces to find the just the right engagement ring before he proposed!
We continued to talk, and it became clear to Katie that this was a wedding photography match made in heaven, so we made plans for me to capture their July 4th, 2020 wedding at the Grand Victoria Riverboat Casino, not far from Chicago in Elgin, IL.
Katie and Jordan particularly connected with my style as a Chicago Fine Art Wedding Photographer, and we discussed how we could curate a beautiful set of detail photos into their getting ready photos on their special day. I shared with Katie how I bring a curated styling kit to every wedding I photograph. My styling kits are always tailored to the couple I’m photographing, too! Katie and Jordan’s wedding day was to be built around an “antique and blush” theme, so we discussed how we could incorporate beautiful items like vintage trays, silk ribbon, and loose florals into some details shots (also called flatlays) when it came time for them to tie the knot in 2020.

The Engagement Session Wrigley Building Chicago IL
Katie and Jordan’s engagement session Wrigley Building Chicago IL was a magical evening filled with beautiful light, laughter, and fun! We began the session at the classic Wrigley Building, to capture some of the Chicago architecture Katie and Jordan had fallen in love with. I love photographing couples at the Wrigley Building because the location lends us a variety of different image-making opportunities: Together, we created beautiful fine art engagement photographs overlooking the Chicago River, in front of the Wrigley Building’s iconic golden doors, and beneath the towering arches.
Katie and Jordan did a great job planning classy and coordinating outfits for their engagement session Wrigley Building Chicago IL! Their first look featured a blush sundress for Katie (an intentional nod to their upcoming wedding theme) and slacks and a white oxford for Jordan, and I must say, they looked stunning at the Wrigley Building! engagement session wrigley building chicago il
But that wasn’t the end of Katie and Jordan’s plans. After taking a quick break to change, they pulled out all the stops with a black ballroom gown and a matching suit! We adventure across the city to a public beach adjoining Olive Park, and created a set of gorgeous sunset images with the lights of the Chicago skyline as the perfect backdrop. engagement session wrigley building chicago il
