Christine & Michael | Historic Barn Engagement Session

How did you meet?

We met at Wheaton College in Chicago during our senior year as Applied Health Science majors. Neither one of us planned on dating for the rest of college because Michael was moving back to San Diego, & Christine was focusing on school to prepare for her graduate program. We ended up meeting through our friend & groomsman, Jimmy, while studying for finals, and soon after, Michael, thinking he was texting Jimmy in a group chat, accidentally called Christine “babe!”

How long have you been together?

5 years! Here’s to 75 more!

How did you fall in love?

It wasn’t one moment, but instead through the time we spent together & the adventures we had over several years. Even though we are very different, over the years we realized we are a good team and how well we compliment each other. Christine fell for his sincere heart, and Michael fell for her joyful spirit!

How did he propose?

On August 8th, 2020 we went up to Lake Geneva to enjoy the day on the water and to chow down at a local hidden gem sandwich shop. We walked the trail along the shore, and Michael stopped in front of a very special location– Christine’s grandparents’ lake house, a very significant home filled with fun childhood memories. It was in front of that beautiful lake-front that Michael got down on one knee to pop the question, and Christine said yes! Michael surprised Christine with an engagement party with their closest friends and family to celebrate the amazing day.

Christine and Michael share a deep love of nature and the outdoors, so it made perfect sense to plan their engagement session at a location that that encapsulated their shared interests and style, and the all white, historic barn at the Lakewood Forest Preserve. What are you most excited about for your wedding?

Besides getting married?! The dancing, great food & reuniting with family and friends!

What do you love most about him?

He is honest in all areas of life, and is extremely patient– the most patient person I know! I love his heart and kindness, especially for the people that need it the most. When he laughs, he smiles with his genuine eyes and sincere heart.

What do you love most about her?

I love how sincere she is. Her joy for life & her love & compassion for others. But also how goofy, fun loving & free spirited she is.

What are your favorite hobbies to do together as a couple?

Hiking, camping, anything outdoors! We’ve also gotten into some unique DIY furniture projects!
