Kirsten & Jon: Spooky Autumn Wedding at The Farmhouse Plainfield
My Favorite Moments
From the moment we started planning Kirsten and Jon’s engagement session back in 2020, I knew their wedding was going to be special. The shared with me their vision for a spooky, “Day of the Dead,” Tim Burton-esque wedding celebration, and I couldn’t wait to photograph their day!
Kirsten and Jon’s personal style for their wedding day was on the darker side, with a color pallette of rich reds and deep blacks; the centerpiece of this color scheme was Kirsten’s stunning Maggie Sottero gown. With a flowing train and beautiful lace details, this gown was such a joy to photograph!
Community and inclusion are one of Kirsten and Jon’s core values, and they put a great deal of though and planning into the strucure of their wedding day to ensure everyone had a good time, with plenty of snacks and grazing stations throughout. One of my favorite spreads was their cocktail hour grazing table, beautifully set up with small Halloween and Tim Burton-inspired elements!
Kirsten’s brothers made a special contribution to the wedding day as well, commissioning a custom cake to reflect the couple’s unique sense of style!
About the Venue at The Farmhouse Plainfield
Situated on four acres near the Dupage River, The Farmhouse Plainfield is centered around a historic limestone home built in 1850. Since acquiring the property, management has completely renovated the original home in addition to contruction a buitiful reception cpace adjoining the historic house.
Amenities at The Farmhouse Plainfield include private getting ready suites for both the bride and groom, and exclusive access to the property from 9 am to 11 pm on the day of your event, and if outdoor ambience is your thing, you won’t be disappointed by the eight patios and eight fireplaces on site.
Ceremony locations include three different settings, with options for saying your vows indoors and outdoors, depending on the weather. For the reception, amenties include an indoor/outdoor bar, clear acrylic Chiavari chairs, your choice of colored table linens, and clean-up throughout the event.
