Megan & Nick: Magnificent Mile Engagement Session in Chicago, IL
How did you meet?
We were introduced by a mutual friend in High school. Nick was junior and Megan was a sophomore.
How long have you been together?
We have been together 6 years! We started dating in March of 2015.
How did you fall in love?
A mutual love of Scooby-doo. We spent most of “date” nights within our first year enjoying marathons of Scooby-Doo movies laying on our makeshift blanket bed on the floor. There was an instant click between us hanging out, it felt very comfortable from the beginning. Our connection grew through other shared interests, even though we may seem like complete opposites.
How did he propose?
He schemed with Megan’s bestfriend about how he was going to propose and roped her into playing photographer. That was Megan’s only request that it was captured somehow and private. Nick scouted out the perfect location with his family a few weeks earlier at Castlewood State Park. On Halloween morning he unhappily picked up doughnuts (very long line at Krispy Kreme) per Megan’s request because he was asking her to take a long hike before noon. We hiked up to one of the best view points in the park, while dressed in costumes for Halloween. Megan was Woody and Nick was Rex from Toy story, although everyone though he was an alligator. Once we arrived at the lookout Nick told Megan that she got a reward for making it to the top and got down on one knee.
Magnificent Mile Engagement Session in Chicago, IL
Megan and Nick live, work and go to school in Missouri, so when they asked me to travel to Piazza Messina to photograph their 2022 wedding celebration, we came up with a creative plan for us to document their engagement session as well. One of their favorite things to do as a couple is traveling together, so Megan and Nick turned their engagement session into a miniature couple’s vacation in Chicago!
Megan and Nick love exploring new places, so they walked from their hotel to Michigan Ave. to meet me for their session, and when we discovered that the original location we’d selected for their session was closed due to the pandemic, we embraced the theme of exploration and spent our time together walking up and down Michigan Ave., creating beautiful photos whenever we saw a neat spot along the way. And that’s one of things I love most about Chicago: there are so many great vignettes and views for a Magnificent Mile engagement session, you can hardly go wrong, no matter where you look!
What are you most excited about for your wedding?
We are most excited about taking the next step in our lives and getting to spend everyday together. We are also very excited to share this experience with our families who have shown unwavering support throughout our relationship.
We also really enjoy a good party and hanging out with our friends and family!
What do you love most about him?
He makes me feel comfortable to be myself and enjoys every bit of who I am even when I push his buttons or annoy him. When I am having a rough day he is the first to ask if there is anything he can do to make it better, or I could call him in the middle of the night and he would be on his way to support me within minutes. He is also a gigantic goofball and doesn’t take life to seriously.
What does he love most about you?
He says ‘”You are a gorgeous lady, but don’t start with that — it makes me sound like a bad guy.” He says that I make him feel complete and like it was always meant to be. He can always come to me when there is something on his mind even though I have to pull the information out of him because he is stubborn. I always know when something is off and he could use extra support. She’s bossy but loveable.
