Katie & Jordan Wedding Bridges Bay Resort Arnolds Park IA
When I first met Katie and Jordan way back in 2019, they were planning a grand Fourth of July wedding celebration in their favorite city in America — Chicago — at the Grand Victoria Riverboat Casino. It was going to be an elegant and upscale affair featuring fireworks to end the night. We even planned an elegant fine art engagement session in Chicago.
But then COVID-19 happened, and Katie and Jordan were forced to move their wedding back home, scale back their guest list, and make plans to tie the knot in the age of social distancing. But one thing didn’t change: They were going to get married on the Fourth of July.
The couple selected Bridges Bay Resort Okoboji in Arnolds Park, IA for its lakeside beauty and many onsite amenities, and as you’ll see, their wedding was nothing short of magical!
Jordan enjoyed a quiet time getting ready in the couple’s lakeside condo. When I was preparing to capture his detail photos, I was so pleased to discover that Katie had personalized his tie for him with an embroidered message:
All that I’m after
is a life full of laughter
as long as I’m laughing
Jordan also incorporated a personal element into his images by having me style his grandfather’s antique watch in some of his flatlay photographs.
I love personal details like these! They are just as important in a couple’s love story as the bouquet, and the dress and rings. So, if you’re planning some personal touches for your wedding day, be sure to let me know! The more you tell me what’s important to you on your wedding day, the better I can serve you!
Katie also left a sweet, handwritten note for Jordan, and it was an especially emotional time when he read it.
Katie had her hair and makeup styled in a private bridal suite graciously provided by Bridges Bay, and while Katie was finishing up her hair and makeup, I gathered her wedding day details to create her flatlay images. Katie curated a beautiful collection of personal items for her detail photos, including a family heirloom handkerchief and an antique hair clip.
After Katie finished her makeup, her mom helped her get into her gown provided by Elegance By Sarah. Katie and her mom enjoyed a few private moments of smiles and laughter as they put on jewelry together and made final preparations for the celebration to come.
The First Look
After Jordan’s brother pranked him with a “faux” first look, Katie and Jordan saw each other for the first time, and Jordan’s reaction to Katie’s magical cathedral length veil was priceless! wedding bridges bay resort arnolds park ia
Because they chose to get married on the Fourth of July, they incorporated some smoke bombs into their couple’s portrait session in keeping with the day’s blush pink color palette. Katie and Jordan had so much fun celebrating their love surrounded by a beautiful pink haze! wedding bridges bay resort arnolds park ia
The Wedding Bridges Bay Resort Arnolds Park IA
The couple tied the knot in a midafternoon ceremony in a beautiful lakeside gazebo. They were joined by their bridal party, parents and siblings, and a small guest list of about 30 friends. After the cutest ring bearer and flower girls made the way into the ceremony space, Katie and Jordan made it official with personalized vows they wrote for each other before exchanging rings and their first kiss as husband and wife. wedding bridges bay resort arnolds park ia

Many friends and family contributed to the beautiful dinner reception, including crafting this beautiful cupcake tree to support Katie and Jordan’s elegant ivory cake! Katie’s mom created many of the floral arrangements herself, and the results were both luxurious and stunning!
After a wonderful evening of dinner, heartfelt toasts, and greetings from members of Katie and Jordan’s families and the bridal party, the celebration concluded in a very patriotic fashion. Katie and Jordan were escorted out of the reception hall for a dramatic sparkler send-off before enjoying a few quiet moments alone by the side of the lake. But those quiet moments didn’t last long, because the resort’s traditional Fourth of July fireworks display was just getting started! After enjoying a few minutes of the show, Katie and Jordan took the opportunity to create some firework portraits to end our time together before heading off to continue the celebration when they joined their bridal party on the late-night party bus!
Katie and Jordan’s Wedding Bridges Bay Resort Arnolds Park IA was a spectacular event and a true joy to photograph! I was so thankful for the opportunity to serve this couple over the past year and a half! I wish Katie and Jordan all the best in their new life together! wedding bridges bay resort arnolds park ia
